How to Explain “Bisexual” to Your Child

I know you all just want the words…so here they are! “Early Childhood” is for kids age 3 to 7 and “Tween” is for kids age 8 to 12. For your tween, start with the early childhood script and add the tween script.

Add your values!

Early Childhood

Some people are bisexual. This means they are attracted to and have romantic feelings for people of the same sex sometimes and for people of the opposite sex some of the time.

Tween

Sometimes, people will decide they are bisexual when they are trying to figure out if they are gay or lesbian. This can be a very normal choice to make when someone is exploring their sexuality.

It can be scary to “come out” or tell people you are gay or lesbian. Saying you are bisexual feels safer because you can say you like people of the opposite sex too, like most people do.

Most people are either heterosexual or homosexual and some are bisexual. You will figure this out, but if you are confused or have questions, please ask me.
