How to Talk About: Belly Buttons

how to talk to kids about belly buttons

There are private parts of our bodies that everyone shares and that are specifically male or female. I’ve provided one quick explanation of all of the private parts rather than a beginner, intermediate and advanced scripts. I figure you don’t need much more than this to answer basic questions or give basic explanations.

The belly button, or naval, is where the umbilical cord was attached. This chord attached you to your mom while you were growing in her body and provided food and nutrition. The cord gets cut when you are born and this is the scar that is left.
