As some of you know, I’ve been casting about for a name for my most recent book. I’ve tried several on and think I’ve finally found the perfect name.
Say What?! The Birds and Bees for Progressive Parents – What to say and how to say it!
Ta-da! Let the complaining begin! I’ll do it for you, so you don’t have to and then I’ll give my rejoinders.
1) “Progressive” is politically charged! Progressive means, among other things, “moving forward.” I my mind, any parent, regardless of their political beliefs or affiliations, who is consciously and actively talking to their kids about sexuality and values is progressive.
2) You’ll scare parents away! Alas, if parents are scared away by the word “progressive” they probably weren’t my people anyway.
3) People don’t want to be “pigeon-holed.” I’m willing to bet whether someone describes themselves as progressive or not, they’ll still pick up this book because they will be curious about what I have to say.
“Progressives” will go for it because it’s for them and they will find it irresistible. Conservatives will check it out so they can gloat about how they’ve got it all going on in the sex talk department.
